Class of 2016 - Presentation Evening

We were delighted to welcome many members of the Class of 2016 back to BGS last week to receive their A level certificates at a presentation ceremony in the Great Hall.

It was also a pleasure to welcome Old Bristolian Jonathan May back to the School as guest speaker at the event. Jonathan attended BGS from 1995–2002 before gaining a first class degree in Computer Science from King's College, Cambridge. After university he started several businesses in the technology sector, then moved to London and set up a consultancy business, working in the technology and web sector with clients as diverse as multinational banks and small start-ups. In 2011, Jonathan founded Hubbub, a technology company that helps universities, schools and non-profits to generate philanthropic donations. Hubbub now works with over seventy schools and universities worldwide, including Bristol Grammar School.

Jonathan spoke inspiringly and interestingly about the impact his education at Bristol Grammar School and the School's philosophy had had on his future, telling students it was not what they learnt at school, but how they learnt to learn that was important. After Jonathan's speech, the certificates were presented and there were also musical performances from OBs Cara Vaitilingam and Justin Hayden.

Our thanks go to Jonathan for taking the time to join us at this event, and to all our returning OBs. It was a pleasure to see you all at BGS again and wonderful to be able to recognise your impressive academic achievements. Congratulations and best of luck in your futures.
