U11 Girls' hockey IAPS tournament

On 13 October the BGS U11A team travelled to Cheltenham to play in the regional round of the IAPS Girls hockey tournament. In the pool section they played strong, consistent hockey, winning three of their four matches and scoring six goals while conceding only two. In the quarter-finals they beat a team from Notre Dame, Surrey, after a very tense battle. With no score after extra time, it was decided on penalty flicks.

In the semi-finals they lost a tight game 1–0 sending them into the third / fourth place playoffs. Again the team gave everything they had and kept a clean sheet, even after extra time. This meant, once again, that the result had to be decided by penalties. Unfortunately this time, we lost.

The team should be commended not only for their skills but also their superb attitude and support for each other as a team. Congratulations – a great tournament, good luck with your next matches girls.
