Our Model United Nations teams enjoyed further success this weekend at the annual Exeter College MUN event. Delegates representing the USA won the coveted Best Delegation award, the fourth successive year that a BGS team has won.
Within the delegation, Sixth-formers Laura (Human Rights) and Elliot (Disarmament) won Best Delegate awards, but this was a team success with every delegate winning recognition from their committee chairs. Fellow Sixth-former Ollie also won a Best Delegate award, representing Italy on the Security Council.
The results were especially pleasing this year because our teams included a number of new delegates, including Jemima, who joined the Lower Sixth this year, as well as younger delegates including several from Year 8 and Year 9. MUN Adviser Dr Robert Massey commented ‘It was a pleasure to see our students represent their countries in such a serious and well-informed fashion. The awards come from their peers, so are especially valuable. It was good to see so many new and younger BGS students trying out an MUN conference for the first time.’
We thank Exeter College for hosting this event and look forward to returning the favour when they come to our BGS MUN next February.
