Bristol Grammar School has decided to move to remote learning from the start of the day on Friday 20 March 2020.
Parents, guardians, pupils and staff have been informed of this directly. It remains to be seen how long this will be in force, but we think it would be prudent for families to plan for remote learning to take place for the rest of this term.
BGS has tried to follow governmental guidelines on all aspects of the coronavirus situation. However, almost a quarter of teaching staff are now self-isolating, and that number is rising daily, putting a material strain on our ability to educate and care for those children in attendance, as well as the rising number who are not in school.
Further information is being sent to parents and guardians with details of how remote learning will take place across the school.
The School plans to provide normal, school-hours care for the children of workers in the NHS, emergency services and other key services.
BGS has received an overwhelming number of messages of support and understanding from all members of the community. These are extremely challenging times for all and BGS remains determined to do all it can to continue to deliver an excellent education, while ensuring that the safety, health and wellbeing of its whole community remain paramount.
