Bristol Grammar School Sixth Formers took part in a virtual Model United Nations event on Saturday 6 March organised by Manchester High School for Girls. Working with teams from Manchester Grammar School, Shrewsbury School, Cheadle Hulme School and many others, delegates tackled issues across nine committees, ranging from neo-colonisation in Africa to self-determination in Kurdistan, from youth recruitment into organised crime to period poverty.
Congratulations go to all the BGS delegates for researching and proposing solutions to these problems, particularly to those pupils chosen by their committee chairs as Outstanding Delegates. These were Jasleen on the Human Rights Council representing Kazakhstan, Rosa on the Youth Committee representing Russia, and Inigo on the Security Council, also representing Russia.
Our thanks go to the hosting pupils and staff at Manchester High, who made excellent use of the Zoom platform to make possible a high-level conference which otherwise could not have happened.
