Yesterday (Thursday 28 November 2019) a group of Year 7 pupils from Bristol Grammar School travelled to Monkton Prep School in Bath to compete in the regional heat of the Kids Lit Quiz. This is an international quiz on children’s literature for 10–13 year olds, with heats held all over the country and indeed all over the world.
We are delighted that one of the BGS teams – comprised of Jay, Tom, Thomas and Raef – were the overall winners and will now progress to the national final. A second team of Year 7 members – Alex, Naomi, Miranda and Oscar – took third place.
The BGS teams competed against ten other teams from across the south west, answering questions in ten rounds, divided into ten categories. Each member of the winning team won a £20 book token as well as a book. The team in third place won a £10 book token and a book each. The national final will take place in central London next Wednesday. Should we win that we would need to fund raise to send the team to New Zealand for the international final next summer!
