Introducing Mr Hume-Smith, Head of Art

During my teaching career, I've worked at schools in India, London, Bristol and, most recently, as deputy curriculum leader in the Art and Photography Department at Ralph Allen School in Bath. After leaving art college, I worked in documentary film production, and my experiences of assisting on training courses inspired me to enrol on an Art PGCE. I've always been passionate about the value of creativity and I'm looking forward to working with colleagues to give BGS students a broad and stimulating art education.

Bristol is such a dynamic and creative city and I’m excited to return, having lived and taught here in the past. Beyond the classroom, I'm a keen cyclist and hockey player. I also love visiting galleries, playing the guitar and making my own artwork. Among my favourite artists are Richard Diebenkorn, Cy Twombly, Hilma af Klimt and Thomas Nozkowski.
