Bristol Grammar School's golf team was crowned winners of the England Schools Team Championship on Wednesday 5 July, thanks to a combined 76 stableford points from Lucas (Y9) and Sonny (Y8).
The pair helped BGS win the annual event, held this year on Woodhall Spa’s Bracken Course, as they held off the likes of Cardinal Vaughan (Middlesex), St Edmund’s College & Prep School (Hertfordshire), Trent College (Derbyshire) and Bottisham Village College (Cambridgeshire), who all came in with a combined 72 points.
Lucas and Sonny finished with 38 points apiece, while teammate Luke's (Y11) 32 points were discounted with the two best scores of three counting. The team had qualified for the final thanks to Sonny and Luke’s victory in the Avon Schools Championship in April, which saw Luke finish in first place and Sonny in eighth, placing BGS as the highest team overall.
Huge congratulations to the trio on winning this national title.
