A postcard from Morocco

During the October half-term, a group of Bristol Grammar School Sixth-formers travelled to Morocco, experiencing the sights and sounds of Marrakesh and the spectacular scenery of the Atlas mountains. They had a brilliant time – as you can see from the message they sent back to BGS via postcard.

Dear Headmaster,

We are having an amazing time in Morocco. After a night spent in Marrakesh, we kick-started our trip with a camel ride en route to the Atlas Mountains and the picturesque trekking village of Imlil.

We spent the night in Imlil, and the next day visited the boarding houses built using the funds raised by Education For All Morocco, the charity BGS has been supporting for over 10 years. This really opened our eyes to the huge impact the charity has on many young girls’ lives in Morocco, providing them with an education that sets them up for life.

This was followed by three days of trekking in the Atlas Mountains, which really tested our resilience, perseverance and teamwork. Our final day took us back to the busy city of Marrakesh where we had a city tour and explored the Souks. The whole trip has been enlightening, giving us a first-hand experience of authentic Moroccan culture.
