Bristol Grammar School recently entered five teams in the local Inter-School Sixth Form mathematics competitions, where students take part in both individual and team rounds involving some very challenging questions. An impressive number of BGS students again took part this term and they all participated very enthusiastically alongside other local schools, where they achieved considerable success.
In the Single Mathematics Competition on Tuesday 3 October, particular congratulations are due to the Year 11 team of Sarah, Immy, Megan and Tom who, despite competing against sixth-formers, came joint first.
Then on Tuesday 10 October, one of our Lower Sixth Further teams (Kyle, Eddie, Charlotte, Ollie and Kelvin) also won their competition, whilst the Upper Sixth Further team came joint second.
Congratulations also go to Upper Sixth student Emma on being awarded a Certificate of Distinction for her performance in the national Mathematical Olympiad for Girls; she deserves to be justly proud of this significant achievement on a very demanding maths paper.
