With a red weather warning in place for Wednesday and Thursday this week, we have – after very careful consideration, and in common with many other schools in Bristol and beyond – concluded that due to the exceptionally high temperatures and humidity that are expected, the risk to the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is too high. We have, therefore, taken the difficult decision to close the school on Wednesday and Thursday (24-25 June).
We recognise that this decision is likely to cause inconvenience for many families and we appreciate your understanding and support. You will understand that our priority is the health, safety and wellbeing of the 1,400 children and 300 staff in our school community.
School will remain open on Tuesday, and will re-open after the two-day closure, on Friday 26 June, when temperatures are due to fall to more reasonable levels again. We sent an email earlier today for the mitigations that we will be putting in place and information on ensuring your child is prepared for the heat – please do refer to that again, if needed.
